Braid Styles for your Big day

Capture of a client with a braided style

Braids are a great way to enhance any Bridal hairstyle. They suit all hair lengths and textures and can really change up your style. A person with thicker hair types, and ones with highlights or different tones throughout the hair are more likely to hold up the style much more elegantly than thinner hair types.

On people with thin hair, braids tend to reduce volume for a hairstyle and also result in skinny braids, so I wouldn’t recommend it. There is always ways to incorporate the braid with added spray and tease, or hair extensions if that is what you really want. Check out my Pinterest boards, you will find different braided style ideas here. Here are the links to each board appropriate to braided hair styles: Half-up with braids, side swept with braids, ponytail with braids, Braids: waterfall, Braids: fishtail, Braids: dutch, Updo with braids, Boho. You will notice, majority of these hairstyles have highlights or are multi-toned. Also, there are many types of braids, so you will need to see which one you like the most.

Outline of your basic braids

Dutch: A dutch braid is good if you really want the braid to show, it is also called an ‘inverted’ braid and stands out and is the most popular

French: The french braid is a regular braid that is opposite to a dutch braid. you will find it has less detail but it still forms a nice pattern

Fishtail: The fishtail braid is one of my favorite braids, as it has a more of a Boho vibe to it

Waterfall: The waterfall braid is popular in half up styles and is great for the bridal party or the bride herself. It’s intricate design can make a simple style look elaborate

You can also check out some styles that look good based on Blonde hair and Brunette hair on my pinterest as well for more inspiration. They won’t all be braided styles, but you can get some ideas :)

I would suggest you get your hair-stylist to add in some highlights at least 2 months prior so you can experiment. And then a highlight touch up a week before the event, if the braid is the look you really want for your Bridal hairstyle! Thanks for reading! :)
